Understanding Safari Pricing: Components and Considerations

The price of your safari with us consists of three primary components. Here’s a breakdown of these components:

Daily Rate: This covers your accommodations, including daily laundry, food and beverages, as well as transportation costs (hunting vehicle) for each of your hunting days. It also includes pick-up and drop-off at the airport, along with hunting services.
Trophy Fee: In South Africa, there are no upfront “hunting license fees” or “game tag fees”. Instead, you only pay a trophy fee for each animal you harvest, whether you kill or wound it.
Additional Fees for CITES and TOPS Species: If you hunt any CITES designated species* or TOPS species*, there is a fee associated with any listed species. These fees are determined by the relevant agency (CITES for the former and the provincial Department of Environmental Conservation for the latter), and they vary by species.

For these three main categories of pricing, we will provide you with a detailed quote in advance of your booking. Whether you opt for one of our listed Standard Package Safaris, a custom-tailored safari (Custom Safari), or a combination of both, you will know the price of your safari upfront. We have no hidden fees, so once you approve and sign your safari documents, the price indicated therein is what you pay. If you later decide to modify your safari documents by extending the length of your safari, harvesting more animals, or adding non-hunting activities, the price will adjust accordingly.

Booking Requirements and Payment Terms

To confirm your booking, a monetary deposit is necessary. The deposit requirements are as follows:

A deposit equivalent to 10% of the total safari price or $1500, whichever amount is higher.
The full price for any non-hunting activities selected.
The total fees for securing any required CITES or TOPS permits.

Additionally:

At least 80% of the full safari price must be received no later than 30 days before the arrival date.
The remaining balance is due on completion of the safari and can be paid in cash or by wire transfer.
Deposits can be made in cash or via wire transfer and they are non-refundable. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur, so deposits may be applied to another safari within 18 months of the original booking date.

Traveling for Different Species

Many species are exclusively native to particular habitats, found nowhere else. Consequently, to encounter specific species, travelers may need to journey to adjacent provinces. This means adding travel by vehicle to the travel package at no extra charge. By doing so, travelers gain access to diverse ecosystems and a wider array of wildlife

Safari Package Details: What's Included and Excluded

Whats Included

Lodging: Accommodation at the base camp throughout the safari duration.
Food: Three meals per day prepared by our chef, along with snacks.
Beverages: Provision of bottled water, soft drinks, local beer, local liquor and wine. Preferred hard liquor is available at cost, with advance notice required for specialty brands.
Ground Transportation: Transportation from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) to the base camp and back (round trip). For larger parties, additional vehicles may be required, incurring an extra fee.
Ground Transportation Between Camp and Hunting Concessions: Transport between the base camp and local hunting concessions.
Guide Service: Services provided by a licensed Professional Hunter (PH), driver, trackers, and skinner.
Field Preparation: Field preparation of harvested trophy animals including skinning and salting of hides.
Transportation of Hides: Transportation of salted hides, horns, etc., to local taxidermist or dip & ship facility.

Whats Excluded

Air Travel and Accommodations: Expenses related to air travel, accommodations and ancillary travel occurring outside the booking dates.
Air Charters: If air charter services are desired or required, arrangements can be made on the client’s behalf. Fees will be advised in advance for approval.
Client-Elected Taxidermy Services: Services related to taxidermy chosen by the client.
Disinfecting and Shipping: Disinfecting, crating and freight of taxonomic specimens to client-designated shipping points.
Client-Elected Non-Hunting Activities: Additional fees apply for non-hunting activities requested by the client at the time of booking.
Gratuities: Gratuity fees, which are at the client’s discretion.
Use of Staff-Owned Firearms: A fee-based option for the use of staff-owned firearms, along with ammunition at cost in full-box increments.

Release and Waiver Agreement: Acknowledgment of Risks

Before embarking on your hunting safari adventure, we require all clients to sign a release and waiver document. This document outlines the inherent risks associated with hunting activities, including but not limited to, exposure to wildlife, rough terrain, and the handling of firearms. By signing the release and waiver, you acknowledge and accept these risks, understanding that despite our best efforts to ensure your safety, accidents and unforeseen events can occur. This agreement releases us from liability for any injuries, damages, or losses sustained during the safari. Your safety remains our top priority, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the terms of the release and waiver before proceeding with the safari experience.

Price Subject To Change

Please note that the prices listed on our website are subject to change without prior notice. While we strive to maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing information, factors such as fluctuations in currency exchange rates, changes in government taxes or fees, and adjustments in supplier costs may necessitate adjustments to our prices. Additionally, a mandatory deposit is required to secure your reservation for our hunting safari packages. The deposit amount and payment terms will be provided upon booking confirmation.
